Mills Place

The large building with the exterior staircase was formerly a United States Marine Hospital. The hospital was designed in 1845 by Robert Mills, architect of the Smithsonian Institute and the Washington Monument. The Hospital Building, as it is still called today, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior.
